Our Holistic Hacks for Cold and Flu Season

It's upon us, cold and flu season is in full swing. We are no experts, but we each have a few tricks up our sleeves to keep our families as healthy as possible this winter. Check our your Clarksburg Yoga teachers' holistic hacks for staying healthy!

"I use a neti pot to clear out congestion. In addition, I use different essential oils. Eucalyptus is great to use in the shower or the bath. I use it for both myself and my kids! I also diffuse DoTerra On Guard and Air X around the house." - DeAnna

DeAnna's Picks:

"At the first signs of a cold, whether it's a sore throat or a stuffy nose, I take Zinc. Zinc can help shorten the symptoms for a cold if caught early. Zinc is also one of the primary active ingredients in cold relief products such as Zicam or Airborne. Consult with your doctor if you've never taken a zinc supplement before. Once the stuffy nose has set in, I'll do anything for even just a little relief. I use peppermint essential oil within a carrier oil under my nose and on my temples. Peppermint can help relieve congestion to breathe easier. It may not last a long time, but it's a welcome reprieve!" - Kelley

Kelley's Picks:

"I'm a big fan of Elderberry. I have seen in shorten my illness many times as well as fend off viruses that my kids bring home. I take Seattle Elderberry syrup daily during flu season and give my kids elderberry drops when they show signs of illness. Once we get sick, we all fight congestion with pure saline nasal spray. This helps keep us clear of sinus infections!" -Ariana
